Standard Ice Cream de Pénjamo is more than an ice cream shop — it's the result of a lifetime of hard work, sacrifice, and determination.

José Ledesma Paz grew up in Tacubaya, Guanajuato, where life wasn't always easy. Those early years taught him everything: work hard, push through, be grateful. He came to the U.S., worked the fields in California, earned his CDL, and eventually built his own trucking business from nothing.

The turning point came when he walked into a small Mexican ice cream shop in Santa Maria, California — and saw exactly what he wanted to build. He opened his first shop in Coalinga, starting as a reseller while he learned the business. Then our family moved to Springdale, Arkansas, and José went back to Mexico to study the craft at its source. He earned a Diploma in Lactology and came back ready to make everything from scratch.

Every paleta and scoop we serve today reflects that journey — from the fields to full ownership, from reselling to crafting our own.

Now his family is learning the recipes, the techniques, and the values that built this. We're growing it together, for the next generation.
